Dr Downie completed his general surgery internship and residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

from The Medical University of South Carolina in 2006, where he was recipient of the Deans Scholarship and co-founded a free medical clinic for the underserved population in the South Carolina low country. During his undergraduate years, Dr Downie became a certified PADI Divemaster (scuba) and developed an interest in long distance running prior to completing the Honolulu marathon.
in experimental psychology from The University of South Carolina in 2001 while performing research in behavioral neuroscience and graduating near the top of his class.
His special interest include: nasal, sinus, voice, & swallowing disorders, thyroid & salivary gland disease, snoring & sleep apnea, and benign & malignant tumors of the head and neck. Downie takes care of both adult and pediatric patients with diseases encompassing all aspects of the ears, nose, and throat.
